Pearson: Wall Street English
Like GlobalEnglish, Wall Street English was also acquired by Pearson. But unlike GlobalEnglish which was a SAAS company, WSE had brick & mortar education centers scattered all over the world. They were a highly profitable company but realized that they needed to enter the SAAS market to expand their business.
My Role
After Pearson acquired GlobalEnglish, our team was promoted to help update the Wall Street English User Experience. As lead designer, I helped build the WSE Blended Learning system they still use today. Our experience with EnglishCafé helped them leapfrog the competition in the growing online English learning market.
WSE Student Dashboard
The student dashboard is the primary entry way to the WSE Learning Service. The service combines multiple avenues through the system, primarily focusing the user to attend their English Lessons. The service employed social features like discussions and peer to peer connections to encourage more English practice in the virtual setting.
Administration features
The administration system allows the teachers to monitor the progress of each individual student. Throughout the WSE system, the profile pages of each student transforms based on the user roles viewing them. Admins can view a student's profile and have access to their workbook scores and progress.
Lesson Player & Authoring Tools
We also designed a robust and responsive lesson player that hosted numerous templates based on the various quiz systems. We had many design templates for multiple choice quizzes, drag & drop, fill-in, pronunciation assignments, and more. On the back end, we also designed the authoring tools so that teachers can create new and updated activities with fresh content.
