PowerSchool: Design System
The PowerSchool Design System was created to establish consistent design patterns across the 40+ products in PowerSchool. It is developed in Angular.JS with synced Sketch symbol libraries managed through Abstract.
My Role
As the design lead for the PDS, I manage the evolution and maintenance of the design system. Our process includes validation of designs, cross-checking design patterns across 40+ products, UX research, and overseeing development.
40+ Products, One Design System (Coming Soon)
One of the biggest challenges on the PowerSchool Design System was creating the inventory of over 40+ products in the PowerSchool suite. Products ranged from financial software to K-6 children’s coursework. The inventory revealed a dizzying number of button types, multiple fonts sizes and colors, and an endless variation of forms, data tables and other design patterns. Leading the design team, we were able to consolidate and build a design system that all the products can adopt.
